ADVOCACY

What is advocacy? Advocacy is HTO most important task.

Student advocacy is carried out by influencing student well-being and the development of education. However, the most visible part of advocacy is casework. This means handling student inquiries by offering advice, discussing the issue, and forwarding it to the appropriate person or working group for further processing.

HTO ry actively advocates in official educational and social policy matters, both independently and in collaboration with METKA and other student associations.

Members of HTO’s board sit on various working groups and bodies within the institution, influencing student well-being. They also participate in METKA’s committees, where current issues are discussed and future activities are planned, for example in the areas of student advocacy, sports, and tutoring. Traditionally, HTO has also been well represented in METKA’s representative council.

HTO has an advocacy team that advises and assists students in unclear situations, as well as in cases of bullying, discrimination, or harassment, if needed.

HTO is also a member of Nyyti ry, an organization that promotes students' mental health.
