  • Mikael Helenius

    Role: Chairperson
    Totem animal: Koala

Hello there! I'm Mikael, also known as MIKQ3L!  I'm a 27-year-old mechanical engineering student from Espoo. I'm currently in my third year of studies, majoring in machine automation. In my free time, I enjoy playing computer games, watching movies and series, and spending time with friends and family.

This year, I serve as the chairman of the board of our association, which means I'm responsible for overseeing the organization's operations. My main duties include ensuring that the board operates in accordance with rules and regulations. Additionally, I take care of the well-being of the board members and ensure that the tasks are distributed equally.

  • MINTTU IMMO

Roles: Vice chairperson, Culture, Sports, Flag & Graphic design
    Totem animal: Quokka

Hi, I'm Minttu, a 23-year-old construction site management student in my fourth year. In my free time I enjoy exercising, hanging out with friends, starting never-ending craft projects that I never finish, and attending events every now and then.

My main role in the board this year is being the vice-chair, meaning I assist the chair and the rest of the board in various tasks, lightening their workload.

  • Nea Paldanius

Roles: Vice chairperson, Events & Labra gear
    Totem animal: Earthworm

Hiya! I’m Nea, a 25-year old originally from Savo but living in Vantaa, and I’m a second-year student in laboratory sciences. In my free time I can often be found at home, where I spend my time mostly playing video games, painting little plastic men, and doing various crafts. Rumor says I can also occasionally be spotted at student events.

On the HTO ry board this year I will be acting as one of our vice chairpersons and events coordinators, and I will be in charge of purchasing and selling lab coats to students. As a vice chairperson I will get to assist both the chair and the rest of the board in their duties as needed, as well as e.g. handling our chairperson’s duties when they are unavailable to do so. As an events coordinator I’m in charge of our events hosted in bars, such as our traditional Tursajaiset, Liskodisco and Esileikki.

  • Eemil Heikkinen

Roles: Secretary, stakeholders, Business cooperation, clubs, Tutoring, Nyyti ry & Megora
    Totem animal: Earthworm

I’m Eemil, a 23-year-old third-year Energy and Environmental Engineering student from Myyrmäki. This is my first year in HTO, but in previous years, I’ve had the chance to get involved with many other associations and organizations. For example, last year I was a Head Tutor on the Myyrmäki campus and the Captain of the Contact Representatives at UIO ry.

In my free time, I enjoy relaxing by taking naps, diving into books, playing board and computer games, listening to music, and watching movies. You might also spot me at student events.

This year, I’m serving on HTO’s board as Secretary, Stakeholder Coordinator, and Megora Coordinator. As Secretary, I’m responsible for documenting board meetings and maintaining the association’s minutes and other documents. As Stakeholder Coordinator, I manage relationships with various organizations, such as clubs, companies, tutors, and Nyyti ry, as well as coordinating matters related to collaboration. • Tytti Vilén

Roles: Treasurer, Toru contact person & Couch and chair responsible
    Totem animal: Raccoon

Hey, I'm Tytti Vilén, a 27-year-old third-year student in Information and Communication Technology, with a major in Wellbeing and Health Technology. I'm originally from Tuusula, but I have unfortunately become a citizen of Espoo. In my free time, I spend time at student events, at work, and with my dogs.  I also enjoy knitting, painting, and watching murder mysteries or Reddit stories on YouTube.

I'm currently in my third year at HTO, and this year, I’m serving as the treasurer, hair and sofa representative as well as TORU (property management) representative. As the treasurer, I pay the association’s bills and reimbursements, handle invoicing, and communicate with the accounting office when necessary. I also monitor budget compliance across various sectors and prepare budgets. What I enjoy about this role is that I can work independently and at my own pace, which makes balancing it with my studies easier.

As the TORU representative, I make sure everything is in order with the association’s property, ensuring things are handled on time. The title of Sofa and Hair Manager is an honorary position given to an old member of the board. In this role, I ensure that the board members look presentable, their hair is well-groomed, and that the HTO has a sofa (though the HTO no longer has a sofa, so luckily no pressure).
This spring, I’m looking forward to getting to know the new board members and team building. It's also exciting to see what we come up with to support students' well-being and happiness.

My duties in HTO include student advocacy, being a harassment contact person, and keeping tabs on Metropolia Agora spaces on different campuses. Student advocacy is often unseen but important work where you function as a link between students and staff.
